Leicester-Goa tie up can build strong relation: Keith

Panaji, Oct 22 (UNI) Member of parliament, Leicester East, Keith Vaz, has said the series of matches between Goa and Lecister city's U-14 football team here is a part of their tie up with the GFA to help and promote the game under the banner of 'Leicester India Football link'.

Mr Vaz, who is in Goa with Leicester City's Youth team, interacting with mediapersons here today said '' we are here in Goa to build strong and long lasting relations with Leicester and Goa.'' He said it was a wonderful movement to bring Leicester Team to Goa to promote football, adding relation will continue on long term basis on a reciprocal basis.

Mr Vaz said the' Leicester india Football link ' will fund a scholarship scheme, enabling one Under-14 player from Goa, who will be chosen by Leicester, UK to train with the academy for a two week period. The chosen player will be hosted by Leicester City.

State PWD Minister Mr Churchill Alemao, who was also present at the press conference, said this is a great incentive for Goan young footballers who can showcase their skills and utilise such tie ups to impress overseas talent spotters.
