Srirangam, Oct 22 (UNI) The five-day bi-centenary celebrations of Sri Ranga Ramanuja Mahadesikan, popularly known as Sri Kethandapatti Swamigal will be held from October 29 to November 2 at the Poundareekapuram Srimath Andavan Asramam here.
During the celebrations Vidwat Sadas in which discussions on the four cardinal works 'Sri Bashyam and Geeta Bashyam by Bhagavat Ramanujar, Rahasya Traya Saram by Swami Desikan and Bhagavat Vishayam by Tirukkurugaippiran Pillan' of Sri Vaishnavism, besides recital of vedas, divya prabandham, epics and stotras and discources by learned scholars would be held, a release said here today.
On November one, a grand procession carrying the picture of Swamigal mounted on an elephant would be taken around the streets in Srirangam and a book authored by Swamigal on the essence of Sri Bashyam would be released on November two.
Sri Ranga Ramanuja Swamigal was born on Aiyppasi Moolam day in 1808 at Lakshmipuram, a village near Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh. In 1853, at the age of 45 and under the guidance of Sri Annayarya Maha Desikan, the Swami took to asceticism at the Sarangapani temple in Kumbakonam. He attained Moksha at Kancheepuram on a Sukla Dasami day of Margazhi in 1885, the release added.
