HC appoints committee to conduct Dwarka court Bar elections
New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today appointed a committee to oversee the elections of the newly formed Dwarka court.
A bench comprising Justices Badar Durezz Ahmed and Rajiv Shakdher appointed senior lawyers V P Singh, R P Lao and Raj Birbal to conduct free and fair elections of the Bar association of Dwarka.
Recently formed Dwarka court was facing problems as many associations had cropped up claiming to be the Bar association of the Court complex. Earlier, the High Court had directed the Delhi Bar Council to conduct the elections and give affiliation to a single association.
The High Court ruled that the elections will be conducted on November 14 and appointed Lawyer K K Sarin as the returning officer who, with the help of other lawyers, would conduct free and fair elections.
Senior Lawyer Sanjay Jain, appearing on behalf of Delhi Bar Council, said the last date for enrolling the membership for Dwarka court was October 30. The Court fixed a uniform fees of Rs 600 as enrolement charges.
Senior Lawyer Ramesh Gupta from Delhi Bar Council said enrolement forms will be made available to the presidents of each Bar association to expedite the elections.
