Girls Hostel inaugurated by Syeda Hameed
Hyderabad, Oct 21 (UNI)Maulana Azad National Urdu Univesity(MANUU) Chancellor and Member, Planning Commission, Government of India, Dr Syeda Saiyidain Hameed, today inaugurated the newly constructed girls hostel building at University campus here today.
The building consists of 24 rooms is constructed with the expenditure of 1.8 crore rupees within 10 months by CPWD.
Later Addressing the gathering Dr Hameed expressed her concern over the recent disturbing developments in different parts of the country and said that Urdu University has to play an important constructive rule in this regard.
While giving reference to the huge mandate of the University she said, MANUU can influence a large section of the Urdu speaking people all over the country. She opined that the University should take initiative in making education available even to the remotest population of urdu speaking people.
Dr Syeda Hameed who is also the Member of Planning Commission of India expressed serious concern on the incidents of weavers of Sirsila committing suicide and revealed that the planning commission had forecasted this situation two years ago.
Prof A M Pathan, Vice-Chancellor presided over the function and said that the University in a short span of 10 years has achieved atleast 50 per cent of its mandate.
