Lucknow, Oct 22 (UNI) The three-day long 'Ghera Dalo, Dera Dalo' agitational programme of the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) on the second day today elicited huge response on the second day today amid the arrests of several party activists across Uttar Pradesh.
About 25 lakh SP leaders, workers as well as commanman have participated in the last vociferous protest in the two days over the 'directorship' and 'misrule' of present Mayawati government, in the state, party sources said.
SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav even appealed to the people to come out in open support of the agitation during its last day tomorrow in order to give the Mayawati government a befitting reply.
Mr Yadav also asked the people to 'gherao' the collectorates of the districts as a mark of protest.
Later in the day, the SP supremo met the party activists, who were put behind the temporary jail at Heera Lalganj Degree College in Sarojni Nagar area of the state capital, and congratulated them for their bravery.
He backed them, saying ''you have done a brave act by raising your voice against the most corrupt government of the state. I advice you to spend your time by studying in jail as it is the best place for political training.'' Mr Yadav said ''the SP would carry out such agitation untill the Mayawati regime is kicked out from the state.'' UNI JAS RSC ATI RK2010
