New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) The Election Commission today announced that bye-election to the Pale Assembly seat will be held on November 26.

The seat fell vacant following the demise of incumbent Congress member Gurudas Gawas in July.

While notification of poll will be issued on November 1, nominations can be made till November 8. Scrutiny will take place on November 10.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 12, said the EC in a statement.

Counting of votes will carried out on November 29 and the whole process of election shall be completed before December 1.

The EC said electoral rolls of this Constituency had been revised with reference to January 1 this year as per the earlier delimitation order and will be finally published on October 25.

The Commission has decided to use EVMs in this bye-election in all the polling stations. Adequate numbers of EVMs have been made available and all steps taken to ensure that the poll is conducted smoothly with the help of these machines.

In consonance with the past practice, the Commission has decided that the voter's identification shall be mandatory at the time of poll.

In order to ensure that no voter is deprived of his or her franchise, if his or her name did not figure in the electoral rolls, separate instructions will be issued to allow additional documents for identification of voters at the time of poll in this bye-election.

The Model Code of Conduct will come into force with immediate effect from today.
