New Delhi, Oct 21 (UNI) The BCCI Finance Committee chairman Rajiv Shukla today said the victory against Australia has silenced the critics who were always against the inclusion of senior players in the team.
''No one should have criticised the senior players without analysing their performance and track-record. The right combination of experience and youth is important for any team,'' Shukla said.
He added that India's 320-run win over Australia has also justified the Indian selectors who went into the match with a blend of seniors and juniors.
''The defeat of the Australian team at the hands of India shows that our team is very strong. The victory margin shows our strength. It has proved that a combination of senior and junior players always works,'' Shukla told mediapersons.
Shukla said with this performance - the voices which were raised for the retirement of the 'Fab Five' - Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Anil Kumble - should now be silenced even though Ganguly has already announced his retirement after the series against Australia.
