RSS women wing demands arrest of nun
Bhubaneswar, Oct 21 (UNI) Hundreds of women under the banner of the Rashtriya Sevika Samiti (RSS) today sat on a dharna in front of the Orissa Assembly, demanding the arrest of the nun, who had fled Kandhamal after filing an FIR alleging rape.
RSS Zonal Secretary Suchitra Mohapatra told newspersons here that the government should arrest the nun and initiate criminal proceedings against her as she had defamed all the women of the state by making a ''false'' allegation and not cooperating with police in the investigation process.
The nun in her FIR in the Baliguda Police station in the strife -torn Kandhmal stated that she was first humiliated by a mob and later raped by a person on August 25 in K Nuagaon village.
After filing the FIR, the nun disappeared and despite the best efforts, police had not yet been able to trace her out, the RSS Zonal Secretary said.
The state government had ordered a Crime Branch inquiry into the rape and so far arrested nine people in connection with the incident.
