Prakash Mahajan criticises appointment of Majid Memon
Mumbai, Oct 21 (UNI) Slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's brother Prakash Mahajan, who has joined the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena of Raj Thackeray, today criticised the appointment of Majid Memon as the special public prosecutor.
Talking to mediapersons outside the court in suburban Bandra, Mr Mahajan said, ''the appointment of Mr Memon as a special public prosecutor shows that the government is desparate to bring Raj Thackeray down, be it Majid Memon or Tiger Memon, we will not let go of our stand and will protect the Marathi 'manoos' come what may.'' He said Raj, who was in Mahad last afternoon, was not arrested from there since the situation was tense. Therefore, the police arrested him from Ratnagiri early this morning.
They had an inkling about something would happen since last afternoon, he pointed out.
Mr Mahajan said his house was searched in Aurangabad last night, when he was with Raj Thackeray.
''Since I left for Aurangabad, I was not arrested. But the other MNS leaders and activists were rounded up by the police,'' he added.
