Madurai: Small scale ind to protest load-shedding
Madurai, Oct 21: Load shedding had become one of the worst affected disease for Madurai. Protesting the hours of electricity cut by Tamil Nadu Govt, Madurai Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA), in coordination with 18 sector-wise associations, will organise a fast here on Wednesday, Oct 22. Operations will be shut down for a day on Wednesday, Oct 22.
The president of MADITSSIA, PT Krishnamoorthy, in a statement issued here on Monday, claimed that load shedding had resulted in small units not being able to run even a single shift continuously.
Over 20,000 small units in Madurai district had reached a critical stage from where survival would be difficult. While they were not in a position to accept new orders, these units were struggling to execute the orders in hand. Frequent power disruptions resulted in wasting manpower and loss of raw materials and an increase in labour charges, he said.
