Dharkot becomes first 100 per cent CFL village in Punjab
Moga, Oct 21 (UNI) Dharkot Charhat Singh Wala village of this district has become the first 100 per cent CFL village in Punjab with all domestic consumers replacing ordinary bulbs with the energy saving Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL).
Moreover, the distinction of being fully energy-efficient was achieved by the 6,000 residents of the village within 14 days of a seminar organised by Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) to motivate the villagers to switch to CFLs, a senior board official said here today.
The replacement of 1,520 old bulbs with CFLs would result in the cutting down of the overall energy bill of the consumers of the village by Rs 50,000 per month, he said.
The board has decided to spend this amount on the improvement of power distribution system of the village, which comes under Faridkot distribution circle.
Enthused by the Dharkot Charhat Singh Wala village success, the PSEB has decided to organise such awareness seminars in all the other villages of the state to motivate domestic consumers to opt for the CFLs.
