Ahmedabad, Oct 21 (UNI) All India Mahila Sanskritik Sangathan today said the Jhagadia gang rape case judgement, given by a fast track court, was exemplary.

All India MSS Secretary Meenakshi Joshi, in statement here, said that in order to eradicate the vice of rape and sexual harassment from society it is necessary that the victims were given such timely justice. ''We hope that this judgment will stand as an example for the Patan PTC gang rape case and other such long pending cases,'' she said.

The fast track court of Additional District Judge N K Purani, in a strongly-worded judgment, yesterday awarded life imprisonment to 14 youths, who were booked for the gangrape of a 15-year-old girl at Jhagadia on February 2, 2008. The court also asked them to pay Rs one lakh compensation to the victim.

The 14 accused had raped the tribal girl, a student of Class X at Diwan Dhanjishah School of Jhagadia, when she was sitting with her friend behind the school grounds. The accused were also charged with beating and threatening both, the victim and her friend.

The accused are languishing in Bharuch sub jail.
