Bharathidasan Varsity to plant 1 lakh saplings in TN
Tiruchirapalli, Oct 20: The Bharathidasan University will involve over 20,000 NSS volunteers in planting one lakh saplings in 250 villages on Tuesday, Oct 21 across eight districts.
The volunteers would plant the saplings provided by Isha Yoga Centre under its Pasumai Karangal Programme simultaneously in villages.
The highest number of 32,000 saplings would be planted in this district, followed by 26,000 in Thanjavur, 12,000 in Nagapattinam, 10,000 each in Pudukottai and Tiruvarur, 8,500 in Perambalur and Ariyalur and 5,500 in Karur District. Each volunteer would plant five saplings, it said.
