Satya Sai trust to construct houses in flood hit Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Oct 20 (UNI) Satya Sai Seva Trust has decided to construct 1200 'pucca' houses for flood-ravaged BPL families at a cost of Rs 20 crore.

Satya Sai Seva Trust Orissa state convener P R Sahu said the houses would be built in the worst hit coastal districts of Kendrapara, Cuttack, Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts.

Mr Sahu said construction would start from November 15 provided the required land was handed over to the trust in time and the process for identification of the beneficiaries completed.

He said the trust had already made consultation with a Bangalore based company and decided to construct the houses as per German technology. Each house costing Rs 1.5 lakh, would have two bedrooms and toilet facilities besides, space for a cow shed.

Mr Sahu said in the proposed colony there would be a school for every one hundred houses having amenities like electricity, water connection and good road connectivity.

He said a delegation of the Trust, led by its All India president V Srinivasan, today held a discussion with Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy,all the four district collectors and other top officials here.

The government, Mr Sahu said, had agreed to extend all cooperation to the trust in completing the job and help in alloting land as well as identifying the beneficiaries.
