Pondy: Opposition AIADMK stages walkout
Puducherry, Oct 20: The Opposition AIADMK on Monday, Oct 20 staged a walkout in the Territorial Assembly protesting the Deputy Speaker's refusal to admit an adjournment motion tabled by party leader A Anbazhagan.
As soon as the house commenced its business, the three-member AIADMK was on its feet requesting Deputy Speaker A V Sreedharan, who was in the Chair, to admit the adjournment motion to discuss important subjects such as unrest among government employees over the implimentation of the sixth Pay Commission recommendations and handing over the government medical college to the ESI Corporation among other things.
As Mr Sreedharan did not heed to their request and asked Chief Minister V Vaithilingam to table the papers, the members moved to the well of the House and staged a demonstration before the Speaker's podium.
With the watch and ward preventing them,they returned to their seats and announced the walkout.
