New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission today sent a reminder to the Delhi Police asking it to send a report on the September 19 Batla House encounter.
Acting on a complaint by Mr Kamran Siddiqui, the NHRC has sent a reminder to the Delhi police Commissioner requesting that the complete report as directed by the Commission in the matter on Spetember 23, be sent latest by October 31 for consideration by the Commission.
On another complaint by Mr Siddiqui who alleged that on October 13, a team of Special Cell of Delhi Police made a visit to L-18 Batla House and that the police team came with two-three bags and stayed there for two hours, the NHRC directed the Delhi Police Commisisoner to inform it whether the team of Special Cell visited Batla House on the said date and, if so, the purpose of visit.
In its communication to the Police Commissioner, the NHRC directed him to transit the post-mortem report of terrorists Mohd Atif and Mohd Sajid and Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma, who died in the encounter and also the inquest reports.
The commissioner has also been directed to inform the Commission whether a Magisterial inquiry has been ordered, if so, the status of Magisterial inquiry.
The NHRC also asked the Commissioner to inform it whether a criminal case regarding the incident has been registered, if so, the status of the investigation.
On receiving a complaint from Mr Kamran Siddiqui about the incident, the NHRC Commission, vide proceedings dated 23.09.08, directed the Commissioner of Police to take appropriate action as per guidelines laid down by the Commission and to submit the report within two weeks.
Later on, an intimation dated September 21 was received from SHO P S Jamia Nagar on October 13 regarding the same incident.
However, the Police Commissioner has not submitted the required report so far, the NHRC said.
In the meantime another communication dated October 14 has been received from Mr Kamran Siddiqui where he has alleged that on October 13 a team of Special Cell of Delhi Police made a visit to L-18 Batla House.
