Militant shot dead, three nabbed in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 20 (UNI) A suspected ultra was gunned down by Thoubal police commandos today at Thoubal Khunou in the state.

Police sources said one nine mm pistol and three rounds of ammunition were also recovered from the militants.

In another incident, Imphal East police nabbed three cadres of Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), including a woman.

The SP(Imphal East) Th Radheshyam said the three were identified as Nongmaithem Joy Singh, Nameirakpam Dilip Singh and Leishanghem Basanti Devi.

Two mobile handsets and one two-wheeler were recovered from them, he stated.

The SP informed that both were active members of KCP and involved in extortion of money from general public, government officials and businessmen.

They also provided shelter to the KCP cadres, apart from transporting arms and ammunition from one place to another, he further informed.
