London, Oct.20 : England cricket captain Kevin Pietersen has said that his predecessor Michael Vaughan will walk back into the team if he can recapture his batting form.
"Michael playing at his best is an asset to any team. He is a world-class player. He dominates bowlers and that's the kind of player I like. Vaughany needs a little time away to make sure he is sorted and that his mind is fresh," The Sun quoted Pietersen, as saying.
"Out of respect for what he's done for England, he deserves to say what he'd like to do to a certain degree. But I'd have Vaughany back in the team any day. I'm in touch most days and he knows how I feel," he added.
Vaughan intends playing some cricket this winter - either for England Lions or a provisional side in South Africa or Australia - before trying to regain his Test place next summer.
He is unlikely to be considered for England's tour of West Indies early next year.
