New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) Exuding confidence over the preparations for the Commonwealth Games, the secretary general Kamalesh Sharma today said the national capital would have all sports facilities in place when it hosts the games in 2010.
''I believe they (preparations) are on schedule. I have seen many interviews which say some part of it may require to be stepped up but there is a complete confidence that all the facilities required will be in place in time,'' Sharma told mediapersons here.
Hailing the recently held Commonwealth Youth Games at Pune as ''big success'', Sharma said sports authorities would have learnt lessons of hosting such big events.
''All the venues were in a consolidated design, extremely well designed stadia with everything nearby and the Games were extremely well attended. The cultural dimension was also very stimulating,'' he said.
''I am sure lots of lessons both in terms of software, which is how to operate various parts of Games, as well as in terms of hardware, which is working of these venues ... All these lessons have been learnt for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi two years from now,'' Sharma said.
''There is lot of confidence that they (Commonwealth Games in Delhi) would be as successful as Youth Games that concluded in Pune just now,'' he added.
