Chattisgarh naxal attack leaves 12 CRPF personnel dead (Lead:CRPF)
Raipur, Oct 20 : Naxalites allegedly killed at least 12 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on Monday.
The attack also left 12 personnel of CRPF and Border Roads Organisation (BRO), who was carrying out road construction work in the area, injured.
The attack took place at around 1.30 P.M. between Modukpal and Kongupalli in the district.
According to reports, one of the attackers was also killed in the exchange of fire that followed.
The ultras allegedly fired upon the personnel belonging to the 170 Battalion of CRPF, who were on a road opening duty.
The troops have been deployed in the area to provide security to BRO personnel.
A counter offensive to flush out the naxals, suspected to be hiding in the vicinity, has been launched by the CRPF.
The injured have been admitted to the Bijapur district hospital.
