Bihar to have counter-insurgency and anti-terrorism training centre
Patna, Oct 20 (UNI) In view of the growing threats of terrorist activities all over the country, the Bihar government would soon set up a specialised Counter Insurgency and Anti Terrorism (CIAT) training centre in the state.
Official sources here today said the state police personnel would be trained in jungle warfare and counter-insurgency operations at the CIAT.
The sources said four training centres (one each for the BSF and CRPF and two for SSB) would be upgraded for providing the specialised training. Apart from enhancing the strength of the police it needed to be modernised for better security.
Huge investment was required to upgrade the police force so that it could counter insurgency and provide security to the people.
The directly recruited DSPs would be given the specialised training at the central academy of the police training.
Revealing the strength of the police forces in the state, the sources said against a sanctioned strength of 57,814 police personnel, 13,106 posts, including that of 10,487 constables and 2,543 sub-inspectors, were lying vacant.
