Srinagar, Oct 20 (UNI) Jammu district has the highest while Leh district in Ladakh region has the lowest electorate in Jammu and Kashmir, according to official figures released here today.
A total of 64, 97,593 voters, including 31, 45,446 women, will cast their votes to elect 87 representatives to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in seven phases from November 17 to December 24.
The Jammu district, comprising 11 constituencies, has the highest electorate of 9, 43,389 voters including 4,64,844 women while Leh district comprising two assembly segments has the lowest number of 74,396 voters including 36,773 women.
The Gandhinagar assembly segment has the highest total electorate of 1,52,100 voters including 73,437 women while Nobra constituency in Leh district has the lowest electorate of 11,863 voters including 5,920 women.
The Srinagar district has 8 constituencies with 5,57,265 voters including 2,68,281 female electors.
The frontier district of Kupwara comprising five assembly constituencies has an electorate of 3,41,004 voters including 1,63,144 female voters while the Baramulla district spread over seven assembly segments has an electorate of 5,18,215 voters including 2,49,868 women.
The newly created Bandipora district covers three assembly constituencies with an electorate of 1,86,069 including 89,221 female voters. Also the newly-created district of Ganderbal includes two constituencies with a total electorate of 1, 37,495 male and 66,159 female voters.
The five assembly segments of Budgam district comprise 3, 83,914 electors including 1, 85,099 female voters while the Pulwama district has four assembly segments and newly created districts of Shopian and Kulgam have two and four segments, respectively.
