Police recover goods worth Rs 20 lakh in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 20: In a major breakthrough Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended 13 burglars from city and its peripheries and recovered stolen goods worth Rs 20 lakh from their possession.

''Special teams were constituted to work out several burglary cases. Raids were conducted on specific inputs and the thieves were arrested along with goods including vehicles, weapons, ornaments and electronic goods,'' Manohar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu told reporters here.

''The gangsters have confessed their involvement in burglaries conducted at various locations in city,'' Mr Singh said.

The arrested burglars have been identified as Ravi Gupta alias Bulli, resident of Rajinder Bazaar, Rajesh Kumar alias Raju of New Plot, Arun Honda alias Rinku of Rajiv Nagar, Vicky Gorkha of Gorkha Nagar, Vicky Gill, Xavier Gill and Vinay Teja, all residents of Christian Colony, Manzoor Ahmad, Atta Ullah, Bahar Din, Amir Muhammad, Rashid Ahmad alias Bani, Latif Ahmad alias Baffi and Mir Alam, all residents of Bhatindi.

The police have recovered one SUV stolen from Pune, one Czechoslovakia made pistol, six live cartridges, foreign currency worth 207 American dollars, Korean currency and Rs 3347, 300-gram gold jewellery and many other household items.
