TN Govt takes steps to promote tourism: Minister
Kanyakumari, Oct 19 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister N Suresh Rajan here today flagged off the new boat purchased by the 'Poompuhar Shipping Corporation Limited at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore to provide additional facilities for the tourists in the district.
Talking to newspersons here, he said tourists would be allowed entry in 'Tiruvallur statue rock' from November one. The Tourism Department had earlier facilitated the process for many tourists spots in the State and efforts were on to trace more such spots in due course, he added.
The minister said the State Govenment had allotted Rs 40 lakh for the promotion of tourism in this district. The Government would also set-up additional infrastructure facilities with the assistance of the Centre at an estimated cost of Rs one-and-half crore, he added.
Mr Rajan said the percentage of tourists had increased to 25 per cent this year compared to last year.
