Srinagar, Oct 19 (UNI) The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) will spend Rs 1 crore for installing plastic dustbins at dumping sites in the city apart from available with the Corporation.
Besides Rs 1.50 crore are also being expended on the installation of new street lights in the city. This information was given by SMC Mayor Sulman Sagar at a process conference here today.
He said about 40 to 70 vehicles of the Corporation were collecting garbage daily from different parts of the city and drop it at dumping sites.
Despite unfavourable situation in the valley, the Safai Karamcharis were performing their duty with a sense of responsibility and dedication, he added.
The Mayor said due to objection raised by some people at Achan, the city garbage could not be dump at the dumping site for past few days.
He said concrete steps were also being taken to the dispose of garbage.
Police have to use force to disperse the people at Achan, where the city garbage was being dumped. The people were protesting against the authorities for failing to take up any scientific measure to stop the spread of bad smell in the area.
