Ropar, Oct 19 (UNI) Roopnagar Cultural and Tourism Society will be organising a six day, Ropar Heritage Festival from October 21 to 26.
Disclosing this here today, Mr Baldeo Purushartha, Deputy Commissioner-cum Chairman of the society said the administration was trying to raise this festival to the national status. District administration would spend Rs 30 lakh on the event that would have competitions for schools and colleges students as well as for public.
He said that on October 21, a procession "Karvan-e-Roopnagar" would also be taken out from the city's market marking. The event would be hosted at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Bagh where noted kawals, Wadali Brothers and Sunil Dogra would perform on October 21.
Mr Purushartha said that on October 22, Rajan Misra, Sajan Misra and Om Prakash would perform. A traditional fashion show would also be organised on October 23. Eight noted models would walk the ramp in Indian ethnic wears.
He said that Harpal Tiwana's play 'Mittar Pyare Nu' would be presented on October 24 at the event. Qawwali maestro, Neeley Khan would perform On October 24. A pop show would also be held at Nehru Stadium on October 26.
Nodel officer of the event, Rajesh Tripathi said that school events would be organised during the day hours for two running trophies on October 21 and 22. On October 23 and 24 competitions would also be held for college students for two running trophies.
