Mysore and Chennai pair wins Senior National Tennis Champ

Kolkata, Oct 19 (UNI) Mysore's R Nagaraj partnering with S Settu of Chennai annexed double crowns at the second GVK-AISTA Senior National Ranking Tennis Championship here today.

Fourth seed Nagaraj won the senior singles 45 years&above final, defeating second seed Yogesh Shah (Ahmedabad) 6-2, 6-0.

Partnering with R V Rama Raju (Hyderabad), Nagaraj beat the top seed of Andhra Pradesh's pair V Srinivas Reddy and K Meher Prakash 6-2, 6-1 to lift the doubles trophy.

In the senior singles 55 years&above, fifth seed S Setthu of Chennai beat top seed V Rama Mohan Rao (Hyderabad) 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Settu then paired with A Rambabu (Hyderbad) to take the doubles crown beating T A P N Rao of Bhimavaram, AP, and K Radha Krishnamurthy of Vijaywada 6-4, 6-2.

Senior singles 65 years&above was won by fourth seed V R Kulkarni of Karnataka at the expense of sixth seed Kesava Perumal 6-1, 6-1.

Senior doubles 65 years&above crown went to top seed pair of C B Raju from Hyderabad and Akhtar Ali of Kolkata. They defeated the fourth seeded pair of S Muthu Kumaraswamy and Kesava Perumal 6-2, 6-3.

All the singles winners walked away with a Rs 17,000 purse, while the finalists got Rs 9,000 each. The doubles winners pocketed Rs 9,000 per team and the finalists got Rs 5,000 per team.
