Lucknow, Oct 19 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) president Mulayam Singh Yadav today said talks over the electoral alliance with the Congress were underway and a ''favourable result'' was expected very soon.
''Discussions were going on over whether the SP-Congress alliance would only be for Uttar Pradesh or for in the assembly elections in other states too,'' he said, adding that very soon an understanding between the two parties would be reached over seat adjustments.
Talking to mediapersons, Mr Yadav announced that the party would contest maximum number of seats in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh Assembly elections slated for November and December.
''In Delhi Assembly polls, the party will contest from some selected seats only,'' he confirmed.
The former UP Chief Minister said announcements of the names of the candidates for the assembly polls would be made after the meeting of the party's parliamentary board after Diwali.
Meanwhile, former Congress MLC and senior advocate Satya Prakash Rana joined the SP.
