Srinagar, Oct 19 (UNI) For the first time, the Jammu and Kashmir Department of Science and Technology (DST) has introduced a new cutting edge technology to tide over the challenges poised by problem of disposal of plastic carrier bags and bio-medical wastes.
The introduction of a new cutting edge technology, the first-of- its-kind in North India called ''Plasma Pyrolysis system'', has many advantages over conventional incinerational techniques.
The Plasma Pyrolysis system sanctioned for Jammu and Kashmir by the Union Ministry of Science and Technology would be set up at the Government Medical College, Srinagar.
To ensure pollution free society, the DST has requested the Central Government for sanctioning four more such units for the state.
With the introduction of this technology, problem of disposing off waste, especially the bio-medical wastes, would be done away with.
