Barwani, MP, Oct 19 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Congress General Secretary and former minister Bala Bachchan today charged the Public Health Engineering department of violating the Model Code of Conduct.
Mr Bachchan said handpumps had been put up at Jalgon, Jaidpura and Agda in Pansemal assembly segment between October 15-18 under the 'Nal Jal' scheme despite poll code coming into effect.
People were asked for casting vote in the favour of regional legislator Deewan Singh.
He demanded strict action against PHE executive engineer and other officials. He said the Election Commission would be informed about the matter.
PHE executive engineer O P Verma said work was approved in concerned area during September and it was in progress since then. No election campaign was done and work stopped today in order to avoid controversy.
Collector S K Pal said no objection could be made on concerned work was in progress since before the implementation of the poll code.
