Congress, HD(S) leaders vow to defeat BJP
Hubli, Oct 19 (UNI) The leaders of Janata Dal (S) and the Congress of undivided Dharwad district today decided fight in unison to defaet the BJP candidate in the coming election for the State Legislative Council from the district.
In a meeting of the leaders and workers of the two parties took a decision to defeat BJP's Shivraj Sajjanar and also strive to bring a political change, JD-S Secretary General P C Siddangoudar said here.
He said that the people were fedup with the 'dirty' politics played by the ruling BJP in the state. 'Operation Lotus' launched by the BJP to lure opposition legislators had annoyed all secular forces and they wanted to defeat the the party.
The time had come now to make a beginning to bring a change in Karnataka politics as the present BJP Government had remained non performer, as it engaged only in politicking instead of implementing development projects.
Congress leader B S Patil stated that the JDS move not to file its candidate for the election and joining hands with it has been a welcome change.
Dharwad District Congress President Nagaraj Chabbi, former minister and also the leader of JDS Mr. Basavaraj Horatti and other leaders were also present in the press meet.
