Jaipur, Oct 19 (UNI) Gujjar Reservation Action Committee Convener Col Kirodi Singh Bainsla today again met Governor Shilendra Kumar Singh to urge for early approval to the Rajasthan Reservation Bill 2008 to pave the way for reservation to Gujjars and the economically backward sections in higher castes.
The meeting held at the Raj Bhawan here in which Col Bainsla requested the Governor to accord early nod to the Bill, which is pending before him for the past about three months.
The Bill passed by the State Assembly during special session in July earlier this year legislates on reservation to SCs, STs, OBCs and also provides five per cent reservation to Gujjars and three other castes under most backward special category and 14 per cent reservation to economically backward classes in unreserved higher castes.
Talking to newspersons after his meeting, Col Bainsla said the Governor had told him that he was in the process of consultation with legal experts over the Bill.
Mr Bainsla also reiterated that he would help ruling BJP for supporting and facilitating the Gujjars' cause.
He alleged that he was having apprehensions that the Congress was exerting pressure on Governor to withhold the Bill and said the Gujjars would retaliate against the Congress' attitude.
This was for the second time when Col Bainlsa met the Governor to request him for early nod to the Bill.
