Four anti-terrorism centres to be set up by government

New Delhi, Oct 19 : The Union Home Ministry has decided to set-up four special Counter Insurgency and Anti-Terrorism (CIAT) training centres each in Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Orissa.

CIAT centres would provide training to state police personnel in jungle warfare and counter insurgency operations.

This will be done at an outlay of Rs. 60 crore during the 11th Five Year Plan, according to a senior Home Ministry official.

Moreover, the official said four training centres of the Central Para Military Forces (one each in Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police Force and two in SSB) were being upgraded to provide training in counter insurgency and jungle warfare.

The Home Ministry felt there was a need for greater investment in the police forces so that they can give greater of security to the citizens and meet their expectations.

Recently, serial bomb blasts have rocked the country in Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, New Delhi and Tripura disturbing the peace and security of the citizens.
