15 Kg heroin seized in Punjab
Amritsar, Oct 19 (UNI) The Special Narcotics Cell of the Punjab police nabbed two persons with 15 kg heroin near the ISBT here this morning.
The two drug carriers were taken into custody when they were moving towards the bus terminal, Narcotics Cell, SP Parveen Sinha told mediapersons.
The estimated value of the heroin is around Rs 75 crore in the international market, he said. The two carriers identified as Harpal Singh, an exserviceman of Mallanwala village in Ferozepur district and Harpreet Singh of Jhuggian village in Tarn Taran district were later arrested under the NDPS Act.
Mr Sinha said that the consignment had been smuggled sometime back from Pakistan through the riverine belt of the Satluj river in the Ferozepur sector. It was being transported to a 'safe' place and was to be moved out to Mumbai at the appropriate time, he added.
