Tax free budgets not beneficial: Pondy Minister
Puducherry, Oct 18 (UNI) Puducherry Home and Health Minister E Valsaraj today said though the tax free budgets were presented for the last seven years, the people in the Union Territory were not benefitted.
Speaking at a function to rename the Mother Teresa Institute of Health Science as Mother Teresa Post-Graduate and Research Institute here, he alleged that during the tenure of Rangasamy, free rice was given to everybody irrespective of their social status, resulting into a huge financial crisis.
Claiming that the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Anbumani Ramdoss had advised him to start more nursing schools in the territory, he said there were 2.5 lakh vacancies of nurses in the country and the Indian nurses were more in demand, especially in the US.
Institute Dean V Balu urged the government to take steps to implement a project, costing Rs 14 crore, which was pending before the administration.
