Udupi, Oct 18 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) Karnataka President and former Chief Minister S Bangarappa today said that the (SP) party was making all its efforts to make Janata Dal (S) to join Congress led UPA to fight against the BJP in the coming elections to the Lok Sabha.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that talks are on in this direction with JD(S) Supremo and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.

Mr Bangarappa said that SP would have an understanding with the Congress party in the coming Lok Sabha elections in continuation to extending support during the trust vote on Indo-US nuclear deal.

He said that based on the winning chances, the party in the state would demand with the congress for about five parliamentary seats to his party. While he had decided to contest the parliamentary seat from Shimoga, it had winning chances in Udupi, Chikmagalore, Karwar and Haveri parliamentary constituencies.

He predicted that no party would get single majority and formation of coalition government at the Centre would become imminent. In this view, the party leadership had decided to join with the UPA and have mutual campaigning during the coming parliamentary elections. Criticizing the BJP party, Mr Bangarappa said that BJP was playing a 'worst and dirty politics' in Karnataka by indulging in wooing the leaders from other parties and has failed to keep up its promises made to the people such as supply of rice at Rs 2 per Kilo and unemployment allowance.
