Revenue of Bhilad checkpost increases to Rs 510 cr

Ahmedabad, Oct 18 (UNI) The revenue of Bhilad RTO checkpost bordering Gujarat-Maharashtra on National Highway No 8 in Valsad District has increased to a whopping Rs 510 crores during the past seven years.

Official sources said today that immediately after taking over the reins of Gujarat in October, 2001, the Chief Minister had brought about financial discipline among the staff manning such checkposts and also stepped up vigilance. The net result is that checkposts across the state continue to make steady increase in revenue earnings each year, they added.

Bhilad checkpost continues to make highest income in comparison to 13 other inter-state check posts and has earned a total revenue of Rs 510,48,41,969 during the past seven years.

Bhilad Regional Transport checkpost also has created a history of sorts by making an income of Rs 41,50,94,228 considered to be the highest among all the 13 checkposts located at 13 different inter-state borders in Gujarat during the first six months of the financial year of 2008-2009, official sources said.

Nearly 12,000 vehicles enter Maharashtra after passing through the Bhilad checkpost on a daily basis, the sources added.
