I have no regrets: Ganguly

By Staff

Mohali, Oct 18 (UNI) Former skipper Sourav Ganguly today said he has no regrets about announcing his retirement from the game after this series, saying,''I had a good time. I played well for the last two years except the series in Sri Lanka.'' Talking to mediapersons here after the second day's play of the second Test against Australia, Ganguly said it was his personal decision to quit the game.

Asked if he was a victim of circumstances, the day's century maker said,''well all I can say is that it was a personal decision.'' When a reporter asked whether he will change his decision (of retirement) if he was asked to continue, Ganguly replied,''we will cross the bridge when it comes.'' About his 16th century he scored here this afternoon, Ganguly said,''I won't call it the most memorable Test hundred but definitely something which I will cherish. It's a good satisfying hundred given that we were 168-4 and then to bat out four sessions.'' He said he had to bat a bit slowly because the way they had set the field on both sides of the wicket getting boundaries was not easy.

''It was a question of being patient.'' ''I have tried to enjoy every single day and trained in a way thinking that it will be my last day in cricket,'' he said when asked about the thoughts going on in his mind when he went out to bat.. '' ''I just don't want to play anymore. Till Sri Lanka I think I was playing very well for two years till the Sri Lanka series. . But I think its time to go,'' he added.
