German girl to give statement in couple of days: Lawyer

Panaji, Oct 18 (UNI) The German girl, who was allegedly abused sexually and mentally by the son of Goa Education minister Atansio Monserrate, will appear in the court after two days, her lawyer said.

The girl's mother, Fadela Fuchs, in her complaint, has also alleged that the minister's son Rohit Monserrate had also sent lewed SMSs to her daughter from the minister's mobile phone.

Based on the complaint and the mother's subsequent statements, the police had charged Rohit with a case of rape and outranging her modesty and the minister was charged with abetment, as the mobile connection, from which the SMSs were allegedly sent, belonged to him.

Superintendent of Police Bosco George said it was early to say when the minor girl would go for medical examination as counselling was still on.

He said Ms Fuchs has stated that her daughter was still traumatised and she would take her for the tests as well as for the deposition before the police once she was ready.

Mr Aires Rodrigues, lawyer representing the victim, expressed confidence that the girl would cooperate in the investigation and said the medical tests would also take place on time.

He said the medical evidence would help make the case strong.
