Bihar: Five arrested for taking bribe

Patna, Oct 18: Vigilance sleuths arrested five people, including the officer incharge of Doriganj police station in Saran district, in separate cases, for taking bribe.

Vigilance Bureau sources here said yesterday officer incharge Surendra Kumar had demanded Rs 5,000 from a retired Army personnel Tej Narayan for police verification to prepare his passport.

Similarly, clerk of Saran district treasury Rajnath Gupta and Md Abrar were nabbed when they were taking bribe of Rs 500 and Rs 1,500 respectively.

Meanwhile, revenue officer in Muzaffarpur Devendra Choudhary was caught taking Rs 2,100 as bribe for mutation of a piece of land.

A head clerk in Begusarai Suman Kumar Yadav was also arrested for taking bribe of Rs 30,000 from a person for mutation of his land.

The arrested people were being brought to Patna and would be produced before the court after interrogation, the sources added.
