Tiruchirapalli, Oct 18: South Korean-based Doosan Infracore, a part of 24 billion US Dollar Doosan Group will be setting up its new manufacturing facility at Sriperumpudur near Chennai with an initial investment of Rs 450 crore by 2010, Company Marketing Chief (South) Chang and Regional Sales Manager South N Mahadevan said.
They told UNI here last night after launching a new version of excavator, the Tamil Nadu Government had already handed over six acre of land to the company for the proposed plant.
The company already had six manufacturing facilities at Korea (4), China and Belgium one each. Two more plants were coming up at China for producing sophisticated excavators and loaders.
The company had also decided to undertake expansion activities at their existing manufacturing plants at Korea and China,he added.
To a question, Mr Mahadevan said the company had a wide range of excavators from four tonne to 52 tonne in crawler and tyre-mounted versions.
They entered China in 1998 netting sales of 200 machines in the first year. Till now, the company had sold more than 50,000 machines only in China, Mr Mahadevan claimed.
The company started Indian operations only six months back and currently had dealers in all the States, he said.
