Calabasas, US, Oct 18 (UNI) Prakash Amritraj went down fighting 3-6, 6-3, 6-7 to top seed Vincent Spadea in the quarter-finals to crash out of the USD 50,000 Calabasas Challenger here.
Amritraj started on a sour note, losing the first set but rallied to claim the second set and even the scores.
The Indian played his heart out in the third set but lost the tie-breaker to the much higher ranked American as Spadea emerged victorious.
Indian hopes are still alive in the doubles competition however, with Somdev Devvarman and his Australian partner Nathar Healey already making it to the semifinals after defeating the duo of Amritraj and Alex Kuznetsov.
