Puducherry, Oct 18 (UNI) AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today urged the administration to hold the Winter Session of the Territorial Assembly, beginning here on October 20, for ten days to discuss several issues pertaining to people's welfare.
Addressing the press here, Mr Anbazhagan said it seemed the Winter Session was only for a day to make certain amendments to an Act which could be done through a GO.
With issues such as financial crisis and problems arising out of the implementation of VI Pay Commission recommendations, the session should last at least for ten days to ensure a proper debate on the subjects.
He also charged that several schemes evolved by Former Chief Minister N Rangasamy were dropped and many others kept pending.
Mr Anbazhagan said he had given the notice for an adjournment motion to discuss the prevailing issues and it should be taken up by the Speaker on Monday.
Alleging the DMK was not discharging it's democratic responsibilities properly, Mr Anbazhagan said the AIADMK was prepared to join hands with the PMC-CPI-CPM combine to organise agitations against the government if Party supremo Jayalalithaa permitted it.
Meanwhile, the legislators of the PMC and CPI held a meeting here to chalk out the strategies to be adopted on the Floor of the House during the Assembly Session.
The meeting, which discusssed several issues, also adopted a resolution urging the governemnt to conduct the Winter Session for at least ten days to discuss people's welfare schemes.
