39-member Haryana team for Police Games

Chandigarh, Oct 18 (UNI) Host Haryana will field a strong 39-member team in the 57th All India Police Games (Wrestling cluster) to be held at Madhuban (Karnal) from October 21 to 25.

The wrestling cluster comprises sports disciplines in wrestling, judo, boxing, weightlifting and gymnastics.

In the last All-India Police Games (wrestling cluster) held in Jalandhar, Haryana had bagged one gold, two silver and seven bronze medals.

An 11-member Haryana boxing team will be led by Head Constable Tanej Pal. Haryana Police are fielding eight gymnasts to be captained by Head Constable Akash Deep. Head Constable Jasbir Singh will lead the eight-member judo squad. Assistant Sub-Inspector Sohan Singh has been appointed captain of the 13-member wrestling (freestyle) team while Head Constable Kuldeep Singh will lead 12-member Greeco-Roman team. L/Ct Promila is the lone contender of the hosts team in the weightlifting competition for women. She will compete in 48 kg weight category. Ct Ram Chander will lead a six-member men's weightlifting team.
