Lucknow, Oct 17 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police would issue stern directions to all the district police, following the occurance of at least two crackers explosion incidents in the state recently.
Senior police officials, including Principal Secretary (Home) Fateh Bahadur and Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh would hold a video conferencing with all the district police chiefs tonight to ask them to be more stringent with people involved in the illegal cracker business.
State Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Brij Lal here today said during the video conferencing, which is slated at 2200 hrs tonight, the district police officers would be asked to check illegal supply of fire crackers and to give licence to sell the crackers in open places only.
During the video conferencing, the senior officials will also direct the district police chiefs about the secruity arrangements to be made during the Diwali festival.
In Lucknow, a couple died in an explosion when the crackers they were carrying exploded. The explosion was of such intensity that the parts of the bodies of the deceased were scattered in about 100 meters' radius.
The couple, who were retailer in fire-crackers, were carrying the items in a sack bag which contained 600 Mahtabs (sprinklers) and other crackers.
Earlier on October 14, panic had spread in Kanpur, when an explosion had occured in a bag kept on a bicycle in Cornelganj area in which six people were injured. Later, it was detected the explosion was due to crackers kept in the bag.
