Vijayawada, Oct 17 (UNI) The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) would conduct more than 10,000 mass marriages for the poor in the fourth phase of the ''Kalyanamastu Programme'' to be held throughout Andhra Pradesh on November 2.
Speaking at the awareness meeting on the programme here today, TTD Chairman Adikesavulu Naidu said it had been conducting the mass marriages programmes for the poor as Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had said that marriages were becoming a financial burden for the poor people.
He said TTD has been creating awareness among the people about the programme in every district of the state.
During the last three ''Kalyanamastu'' events, nearly 20,000 people got married. The TTD would spend about Rs 7,000 for each marriage in the fourth phase, he added.
Application forms to register the names for the marriage would be available at all mandal head quarters and with village sarpanches, he said.
