Sensex climbs 150 pts at 10,731 mark
Mumbai, Oct 17: Markets opened higher on Friday, oct 17 by 150 points, thanks to significant gains in capital goods and power goods. Bombay Stock Exchange's 30-share Sensex climbed 149.67 points to 10,731 from Thursday, Oct 16 close. National Stock Exchange's benchmark Nifty rose 46.85 points to 3316.
US stocks soared in late trading on Thursday, a day after Wall Street's worst day since the 1987 crash. Back in India, Satyam, Tata Motors, Zee Entertainment, Reliance Infrastructure, L&T, BHEL, Siemens, Suzlon, HDFC Bank, TCS and Tata Steel have gained. Asian markets are trading mixed. The Nikkei and Shanghai rose 2 pc and 1 pc, respectively.
