Mumbai, Oct 17: On Friday, Oct 17 Rupee opened high at 48.70, up by 12 paise, against US dollar from its last finish at 48.82. Later, it fluctuated in a range between 48.58 and 48.73 per dollar in mid-session.
Brokers said, the Indian Rupee was helped by a strong opening in the local share market, which raised hopes of some capital inflows. But dollar demand from importers and oil firms may limit the rise, they added. The rupee fell to a record low of 49.30 last week.
