Chennai, Oct 17 (UNI) Former India opener Woorkeri Raman today described master blaster Sachin Tendulkar's surpassing of West Indian Brian lara's record for highest number of runs in Test cricket as a ''fantastic achievement''.
Talking to UNI he said, ''it's fitting that one champion overtakes another. Both Sachin and Lara are great players of their era and have played against each other a lot.'' ''It's a fantastic achievement and India is proud of it,'' he added.
Pouring encomiums, Raman, who had played alongside the little master, said Sachin had worked hard for so many years to achieve this feat. It's a reward for his hardwork, perseverance and dedication.
''I am very pleased as much as the entire nation about his feat'', he said.
''I am very happy that we have a guy who has all the records under his name.'' Sachin crossed Lara's 11,953 runs when he scored his 15th run on the opening day of the second Test against Australia at Mohali today.
