Jammu, Oct 17: Four people, including an employee of the JP Company, were killed in different road accidents in the Jammu region, police here today said.
''Three people were killed yesterday, when a tipper in which they were travelling skidded off the road and rolled down about a 500-foot deep gorge at the Gajpath waterfall, some 250 m away from the Baglihar Power Project,'' police sources said.
The accident took place late last night around 1045 hrs, when a tipper turned turtle and plunged at the bank of the river Chenab, resulting in serious injuries to its passengers and the driver.
''The passengers had gone to see the Baglihar Dam and met with an accident at the Gajpath waterfall on their way back,''police added.
On receiving the information, a large number of workers rescued the victims early this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Kumar, his son Parveen Kumar (19), both residents of Kunfar Chanderkote, and Shabir Ahmed Wani (35), a worker of the JP Company and a resident of Nanil, tehsil Bijbehara of district Anantnag, Kashmir.
In another accident, a motorcyclist died on the spot when he was hit by a speeding truck at Mirpur Morh in tehsil Hiranagar last night.
The deceased was identified as Surjit Singh (40), a resident of Maan Nangal, tehsil Pathankot, district Gurdaspur.
The driver has been arrested on the spot and the truck was seized by the police.
